FYBO COVID-19 Update

UpdatedThursday March 19, 2020 byScott Kay.

Hello FYBO Families,
We want to give you an update on this year’s Baseball season.  As you are aware, the COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation and everyday life is changing frequently. We remain optimistic that we will have a Spring season, but there will be a few changes:

1.   The traditional evaluations that were scheduled to be held March 27/28 are cancelled.  Coaches will hold an open and honest draft to select teams, based on all available data.

2.   For players 11 years old, we will send a separate communication explaining the difference between the AAA League and Majors League and ask for a declaration of preference.

3.   We are planning to start the season as soon as it’s safe to play for everyone.  We will keep you posted as to timing.  We intend to follow the recommendations of the town Board of Health, Franklin Public Schools and other Spring sports.

4.  Please remember, as directed by the Town of Franklin, fields (and playgrounds) are CLOSED and players should not be practicing alone or with others, under any circumstances.

We are closely following the advice of state and local officials as we navigate through this difficult period. We strongly encourage “Social Distancing” – even sharing a baseball can put a player, and in turn, a family at risk.  We thank you for your patience and hope you and your loved ones remain safe.  If you have any questions, please let us know and we will try to answer them as best we can.

Thanks again,
FYBO Board
