2019 Player Evaluation Days
March 9th – March 10th, 2019

GET READY FOR SOME BASEBALL!!!  With the season rapidly approaching, this communication is focused on our upcoming player skills evaluation sessions being held from Saturday, March 9th and Sunday, March 10th.

The Purpose of Evaluation: To provide the opportunity to review each player’s skills in order to ensure that they are placed in the appropriate league based on their abilities, as well as to provide competitive balance amongst all teams. Player attendance is imperative in order to make this process effective. All Evaluators will need to have their Cori Application approved by March 1, 2019.

Where:            Tri-County High School Gymnasium, 147 Pond St, Franklin, MA 02038
(Weather permitting, it may be moved outside to a turf field. We will

announce 48 hours in advance.)

Who:            Single A League - all players born between May 1, 2009 and April 30, 2010.

AAA-Majors - all players born between May 1, 2006 and April 30, 2009.   Players in this age group will be assigned to AAA (46/60 diamond) or Majors (50/70 diamond). All 10-year-olds (those born between May 1, 2008 and April 30, 2009) will only be evaluated for AAA. AAA and Majors will be re-drafted in 2019. All players who played in Majors last season automatically return to Majors for the upcoming season. These players are strongly encouraged to attend these sessions. All 12-year-olds, (those born between May 1, 2006 and April 30, 2007), who are not currently in Majors, will automatically be placed into Majors, as long as they participate in the skills evaluation sessions. Any 12-year-old desiring to play AAA must apply for a waiver to opt out of Majors, so they are only evaluated for AAA. This waiver will be reviewed by the Director of Baseball for approval. All 11-year-olds in attendance (those born between May 1, 2007 and April 30, 2008) will be evaluated for AAA or Majors. Any 11-year-old who does not want to play Majors must apply for a waiver to opt out of Majors, so they are only evaluated for AAA. This waiver will be reviewed by the Director of Baseball for approval. 11-year-olds who do not attend the skills sessions will be placed in AAA. Any 12-year-old currently not in Majors who does not attend the skills sessions will be placed in AAA, and will not be allowed to pitch. If a 12-year-old was granted approval to opt out of Majors, and they participate at the skills sessions, they will be allowed to pitch in AAA.

Babe Ruth - all players born between May 1, 2003 and April 30, 2006.  All players who played in the National Babe Ruth League last season automatically return to National for the upcoming season. These players are strongly encouraged to attend these sessions.  Players who were NOT assigned to a Babe Ruth National Team last season must attend and participate in the evaluation sessions if they want to be considered for the National League. If not, they will be placed into the American League. Again, all players are strongly encouraged to participate in the skills sessions in order to help us form competitively balanced teams. Babe Ruth teams are also re-drafted in 2019.

Rookie & Bantam - Players Born between May 1, 2010 and April 30, 2012 do not have skill sessions. Teams are assembled generally by school/neighborhood and coaches will be notifying parents of their son’s/daughter’s team placement by early April late March.

NOTE: We are not equipped to register players at these sessions. Please register at: www.franklinyouthbaseball.com prior to the Evaluation Sessions.
